Parse this sentence:

" We want our teachers to be trained so they can meet the obligations--their obligations as teachers. We want them to know how to teach the science of reading, in order to make sure there's not this kind of federal cufflink."

G.W. Bush, March 30, 2000, during a campaign stop at a middle school (thanks to my now very outdated calendar that we use for a notepad instead).

I ask, what was "cufflink" supposed to be? Couldn't possibly be "kerfuffle" although I'd like to imagine it was, and it isn't "handcuff" because that doesn't really fit either. If you figure it out, let me know.

In other news: bloody noses, bad hips and a party tomorrow makes me a dull girl. And how to dress up the lions? An important concern that needs to be dealt with quickly, lest we get involved in some sort of federal cufflink by accident. I must teach them the science of lioning!
